Construction & Environmental Litigation

Our stand-up lawyers represent high-stakes construction cases.

Virtually every aspect of a construction project lends itself to the need for a good construction attorney—before a disagreement ever turns into a legal dispute.

From the negotiation and drafting of contracts and other construction documents, to disputes during construction, to the aftermath of a completed project, the lawyers at Walters Renwick Richards Skeens & Vaughan, P.C., have proven to our clients time and again that having a trial attorney with construction knowledge and experience on your side is invaluable to both your business and your reputation.

Our experience in construction and environmental litigation has served our clients well, helping us protect their interests in court, arbitrations, and mediations.

Put your case in the best possible hands.

Our trial attorneys have represented clients who are owners, architects, engineers, suppliers, contractors, and sub-contractors during all phases of construction projects.

Our clients have found our litigation experience to be of great benefit in drafting AIA construction agreements, joint check agreements, subcontracts, lien waivers, architectural licensing agreements, and more.

And when a dispute does arise, our trial attorneys are ready to wield their experience and skill. We’ve successfully litigated and tried cases involving architectural and engineering malpractice, mechanic’s liens, Clean Water Act violations, inverse condemnations, breach of construction contracts, architectural drawing copyright claims, and more.

While these matters are typically handled on an hourly basis, WBSV makes it a practice to explore unique payment structures with our clients under the right circumstances, including prosecuting claims on a contingency fee basis.

Construction and Environmental Cases

We are proud of the results we have been able to achieve for our clients in construction and environmental litigation.

Bucon v. Kubricky (Jackson County, Missouri) WRRSV obtained a substantial but confidential settlement for the defective design and construction of the concrete floor of an 800,000 square foot distribution facility.  The claim was brought for the benefit of the owner by the general contractor on the project who pursued recovery from his subcontractors to hold them accountable for their defective work.

Weatherby Lake (Platte County, Missouri) Legal action was successfully pursued by WRRSV on behalf of a 210-acre private lake against developers and the highway department for construction projects undertaken in the watershed without proper siltation controls.  Both injunctive and confidential monetary results were obtained to help restore and protect the lake from the adverse consequences of the increased volume and velocity of storm water runoff, which was triggered by irresponsible watershed development.

Travis v. HNTB (Sedgwick County Kansas) WRRSV obtained a defense jury verdict in favor of an engineering firm that was alleged to have defectively designed the HVAC system of a hospital.
